I've recently re watched Solid State Society movie and I think I've caught most of the plot quite well, however, there are still 2 thoughts that have been nagging me persistently.
Spoiler:
1. Why couldn't Motoko consciously come up with Solid State Society plan? Why did she need to subconsciously create a fake persona of the Puppet Master in order to direct everything hidden even from her own 'master ghost' (I am inventing terms here, but bare with me)?
Was it because Motoko is too much of a policewoman at heart, so she couldn't consciously break the law on such a massive scale? Or does it imply that the Solid State was only something that she yearned to do, but never actually wanted, so a part of her subconscious separated from her specifically because her 'master ghost' would never do it?
2. What exactly is Koshiki? I think I've understood correctly where he (and the Puppet Master) came from, but what exactly was he? A self-propagating Stand Alone Complex that spawned from Motoko's interaction with the Net? A Net AI fused with parts of Motoko's ghost?
And how the hell did he separate from hew at the end of the movie? The film suggest that Koshiki/Puppet Master left Motoko for good, but how did he manage it, if he was part of her consciousness? Or, if they separated 2 years ago when Solid State was created, what parts of her did he take?
Was Koshiki actually some hidden part of Motoko's psyche that thirsted from some kind of idealistic Justice For All? A part of her that she suppressed that managed to somehow separate in order to create the Solid State.
As I've said, I think I got the general idea they were hinting at, but the mechanics of the process elude me. Unless, of course, the mechanics don't actually matter, since it's science-fiction after all. 8)
