Damn, that was a nice way of putting it Clarste, you sure have your way with words.
I often find myself thinking how annoying these male protagonists can be, I mean, look at Senjougahara. How can he be so passive and disinterested when conversing with her? And then I realize - she probably wouldn't be so interested in him in the first place if he was like the majority of guys his age. As Clarste cleverly pointed out, by remaining undefeated in these dialogues he likely leaves Senjougahara with a rather sour taste in her mouth which makes her eventually want him more as he's someone who is not easy to get. At least that's how I see it.
