The full extent of his and Shinobu's powers was already implied in the fast-forward flashback shown at the beginning of Ep1, when they duelled against each other. At least one of them appeared to have lost their arm, but the limb was completely regenerated by the time we see them in present day.
Meaning to say, at full power, either Araragi or Shinobu probably possessed Wolverine-like regenerative abilities, making them potentially indestructible.
