Unohana must have done something to impress Kenpachi a long time ago but perhaps he doesn't remember her face.
I also hate how Ichigo can impress these super powerful guys when he's not fighting then just totally suck during a real fight. IE when he impressed Unohana while running with her from Hueco Mundo.
