I hate his character, seriously..but as for why it's kinda hard to explain.

First of all, I hate the way he acts like HE IS NOT EVERYONES boss and goes on about that friendship crap when in fact he is just psychologically controlling them. (vampires)
Second, he said himself that he has an evil character...but no, you are not evil you just have major issues.
Third, I hate the way he uses Zero.
Fourth, for forcing Yuuki to be his "lover" in return for her past.
Fifth, he is sneaky schemer.
Sixth, he bitch slaps Aidou a lot
Ah anyway, he is just a very unlikable character.

Spoiler for my reply:

1.) Kaname isn't forcing anything on anyone. He even feels as if he's being spoiled too much by his "friends". The other vampires simply justs wants to follow his orders. And I don't see anything wrong w/ that. They've been friends since kids. Check out Aidou's? flashback were he first met kaname and how they've become friends.

2.) He's evil alright. Anyone who does something bad at Yuuki will face a pitiful end.

3.) Thanks to that; Zero is now saved from turning into a level-E and is able to be w/ Yuuki more. Sad though that he's EMO now and even pointed a gun right at Yuuki. Good thing is he's in prison; he clearly needs some time to think.

4.) He ask Yuuki to talk to him alone; But no; Yuuki drag Zero w/ her. Who wouldn't be pissed at that. And I don't think Kaname would want Zero to learn all of Yuuki's past. And I see it as a escape way made by Kaname because of that.

5.) He does his things on the dark side; unseen by us. He's protecting Yuuki from afar. Destroying future problems that might occur. (If Rido's fiancee is still alive who knows what could've she had done)

6.) lol. I don't remember anything like that in the manga. It's been a long time since I read the first few chapters.

Well thats just how I see things.
