Still, it is a much, much happier manga, and for a girl who lost her sight Helen's eyes sure seems to be full of emotion and life.

Spoiler for ch 9: The doll is a (sado-)masochist, lol. Nonetheless, the essential difference between the two series is underscored by the doll's suicide to save the teacher. In Fran he would have had a horrible, horrible death. So is chapter 8 once you reach the ending.
