Yes, in the same honorable way he did in the original series — and it was perhaps more powerful due to his expanded character in Y2199. It was moving. Oh, and that image of his wife, kid, and bird weren't used in that scene — its from an earlier scene where he looks at an old photograph of them while he's preparing for the Battle at the Rainbow Cluster.

I forgot one more major thing about Desler in Episode 22, he throws a huge Memorial Service for Domel and announces the Unification of Garmillas and Iscandar is about to commence, as it has now been approved by Yurisha Iscandar... There's more wonderful Desler bits, but I don't want to spoil them all.
