Since Brera is revealed to be (part)cyborg my guess is its not even Brain wave controlled but he just interfaces with it. Might almost be the same, still its different. It certainly explains his high manouverability and since when interfaced it probably just feels like an extension of his own body, also eplxains the cockpit. no windows, cause he just gets the images fed from the visor data.

So the cockpit is just there for visualisation to the viewer
