No I don't think you need to download it that way 'cause it doesn't work like that for me...
Open the patch, clicky clicky click, then there should be a progress bar(2 of them). If you're on a normal internet connection(no fireway no proxy security bla bla blah) then the bar should progress and update as time passes by.
P.S. Archer's blocking is so frigging rigged it blocked my Excalibur beam cannon...
