The anime never said anything about using IBN to decrypt SERN's emails. It's supposedly used to decrypt SERN's other database that Daru finds only contains gibberish codes) Every report about the experiment that the lab members knew came from the normal database which Daru hacked normally.
I guess it's more translation blunder than anime blunder
