Then again, on the subject of hardness, here's a short on the Type-02 "Sen No Nami" buster sword;

“That’s where these come in.” Jinrai remarks and points to what appears to be a series of miniature thrusters lined along the back of the blade. Slim and compact, the thrusters are output vents for twin particle accelerators built inside the back of the weapon and the thrusters themselves have a limited degree of vertical movement. Jinrai taps a couple of keys on the keyboard with opens up the mounted container on top of the Type One flight unit.
