Spoiler for Wilhelm Grimm's Magical Girls 38 - Jim Henson's Precure Babies: Egao Random:
All I could think of when I saw this episode was "Hisako Kanemoto gets another chance to use her really young voice." At least it's only a reverting in body, not mind (though some childlike tendencies creep in because of that), and none of Team Smile has any traumatic past to deal with. So maybe it's only superficially like the last arc of Kokoro Connect, but they share a voice actor and I'm going to run with that for as long as I can, which is, I believe, until the end of this paragraph.
In some aspects of this episode, it's clear Toei was saving on budget. The Akaoni/Wolfy brawl animation was used a lot, but... they also created entirely new animation for the Kid Cures. Everything from transformation to roll call to attacks were completely redrawn, and in a way that's almost too cute. (Also, little Yayoi is a cheater.) Their clothes (both civilian and heroine) conformed to their smaller forms, but their bodies didn't have nearly enough magical power to handle it. Yayoi needs a stronger electric resistance. Majorina blew this one on her own, but she's never been one to fully think things through.
I can see a lot of Reika/Wolfy stuff popping up after this. Watch out, Miyuki, someone's stealing your... er, canine. (And considering Reika ran against him only two weeks ago...)
Though the tables were turned once again with next week having enough MiyuRei stuff to drive the fanartists crazy. This episode was saccharine to the core, mostly serving as a small character piece for Nao (her mom finally got a line!), but I enjoyed it. The new animation sequences in particular.
