Spoiler for Detective Log 6:
November 14th, 1986
A couple weeks after her disappearance, Jessica Ushiromiya sent me a personal letter, remembering me from our interrogation meetings. She asked me not to share this with the police, which isn’t much of a problem now since I was kicked off the investigation since the last log I wrote.
Dear Mr. Hotake,
I’m sorry for running off like that with Ange first of all. You have to understand, after she told me about Battler’s letter I was worried that she would be interrogated rigorously. The three of us could take it, but Ange is just a little kid. Trust me though, if I knew where Battler was the first thing I would do is punch him for leaving Ange alone the way he did! I won’t tell you where I’m sending this from, but I promise you we’re both safe and surviving.
You’re probably wondering how we’re surviving though. Despite getting most of the inheritance from my dad that money is with mom’s parents. I’m actually living off the gold. You’re investigating the murders so I’m sure you know the legend of the hidden gold. Well it does exist – George actually found it through a note he received from Eva, he told us. I won’t tell you where it is though, so sorry~
In any case, we don’t really know much about the murders. Although I will admit that I am not as innocent as I appear and neither were Battler or George. We…did something terrible let’s say. Several things that probably got your investigation all messed up. I tried to stop George but he refused to let down, so Battler and I helped in hopes he would get it together. Obviously that didn’t happen and he committed suicide.
I need to go and pick Ange up from daycare now. I won’t be writing you again, but good luck. But as George told you, investigating is pointless. After all a ‘witch’ came and messed you all up before you even began.
~Jessica Ushiromiya
I think I'll keep this letter to myself...
