About the Novel vol. 6 (gaiden).

It seems some people assume that if we lack electricity and modern resources/commodities humans aren't able to cope and revert back to being cavemen.
But everything we have today had to be made from scratch. Inventions had to be though by someone, tools had to be made, processes had to figured out and perfected. Before we had electricity someone had to make a generator isn't it? The first guns and bullets were made by artisan's hands using normal tools one by one compared to modern tooling and manufacturing. So it's isn't impossible to start from zero.
The difference is that any educated person knows or has an idea of how your modern stuff is made and where it comes from. The JSDF guys might have the advantage of skipping hundreds of years of science and technological development. Some of the staff must be trained in certain fields for sure.
Being a forward base of operations and under the uncertainty of the Gate remaining open one would think forward and be prepared in case they're stranded. One could assume that they have at least basic facilities for most of their operations. They mentioned having an armorer which means they might have an armory and maybe basic tools for servicing firearms, maybe specialized tools or even manufacture. An infirmary or medical facilities would be a must. And from ch 17-18, they mentioned analyzing the fire dragon's remains. Anyone thinking ahead would put a lab beyond the gate to analyze stuff for any dangers, unknown contaminants or diseases before it crosses the gate into Japan (barring the first invasion and visitors that already did
).
If the armory has basic tooling bullets can be easily manufactured. Shells from brass and bullets from lead and copper. If the other world is technologically at Roman/Middle Ages level and they know Iron and maybe steel, they most likely have access to other basic metals. Blackpowder although not ideal and crude can be made from charcoal, sulfur taken volcanoes or hotsprings, potassium nitrate (saltpeter) from caves or deposits. Nitrocellulose and Nitroglycerin is not impossible to make either.
As for gas, almost a century and a half ago we were still hunting whales until they found a use for the oil in surface deposits which were exploited and later found shallow ones where they drilled to extract. The oil was first refined into kerosene and after the advent of the car we invented ways to refine oil into gas or diesel. Or they could make biofuels which one of the byproducts is glycerin which is used to manufacture nitroglycerin, you get the gist.
As for electricity of course one would think of placing generators in a base in case of a black out or being cut from the supply coming from Japan. And maybe thinking ahead by having solar power or a wind turbine having the base on a hill in a plain.
It's human inventiveness and adaptability that has lead to the level we are today. It isn't like humans can't progress again after reverting a few centuries technologically.
And just trying to read the ja wiki with my limited japanese I figured a few things.
Seems like the middle names of some characters are based on their religion or god they worship.
Tuka Luna Marceau middle name comes from Lunaryu the god of music.
Lelei La Lelena comes from Elran & Lah gods of knowledge/education, on the other hand her sister is named Arpeggio El Lelena.
As for the other apostle/demigod (the white goth loli) that was pictured behind Rory in ch. 18.

From what I was able to read from the wiki, she's named Giselle apostle of Hardy the god of the underworld. She looks like in her 20's but she's over 400 y/o. She's a dragonkin/draconian/dragon people and wears a white goth loli attire and uses a scythe just like how she appears in that panel in ch.18. She was the one to wake the hibernating fire dragon.
As for the Dark Elf, her name is Yao Har Ducci. It's been mentioned in previous post that she looks like in her early 30's but she's 315 y/o. She was dispatched to Alnus as a representative of her tribe to request the extermination of the Fire Dragon. The wiki talks about her life, best friend wedding, netorare, bad fortune and some deaths but my japanese reading comprehension level wasn't enough to piece it together.
Also after she found out that the hibernating Fire Dragon was awakened by Giselle apostle of Hardy she changed religion and became a Rory follower, changing name to Yao Ro Ducci.
And according to contract/documents for killing the Fire Dragon (I guess signed between the dark elves and the JSDF or Itami's group) she became Itami's property
