I would wholeheartedly recommend the wonderful maison ikkoku as a manga that is being overlooked. It is a great series that is very romantic and has lots of charm. According to many people it has some of the best character interaction ever in a manga and most importantly it is still a timeless romantic comedy, even 20 years after it came out it still is exciting and fun to read.

There is a second edition the viz released for 10 bucks, so you can look into it.
