Agreed on this one. While not
the saddest thing i have seen, it is certainly up there. This one episode OVA packs a very powerful punch. I think there were 2 times during the episode when i got misty-eyed. Coming from me that says a lot. Fafner series has its fair share of gloom and powerful scenes as well. It is surprisingly emotional for something that i classified as "yet another mecha show" in the beginning. Now it stands as my no1 mecha series, and the emotional impact it can deliver certainly helped it to get up there.
