Well, with many special efects like the ones in the movies you could have a small chance to make it look like they are being fired while levitating
. But more importantly, I suggest to stop this pointless discussion. It's impossible to compare fiction with the real world and we can only asume or make weak statements on facts that we'll never be able to prove.
(But I still think UBW can be imitated with modern technology!)
