I am glad they slowed it down a bit, atleast. I thought it was pretty good on it's own. I thought the one-winged eagle in your heart and wedding propsal were really well done, though Jessica giving Natsuhi the charm lost a lot of feeling.
I seem to be the only one who liked Maria's face when she read the letter. I like to imagine her with that face than starting, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times."
I agree about the reactions to the first twilight being a bit terribly done. Not from a "compared to the visual novel" standpoint, but just from a normal one. It just seemed like they were too well ordered, and not chaotic about it.
Spoiler for Current Discussion:
As far as the current discussion goes, it is not that I particularly want it to be a 1:1 adaption, however, there are still some things that I think are rushed. While it's true, you still don't know the characters too well by the first twilight of Episode 1, I think you know them a lot better than in the anime. Small actions can make a character seem a lot different than if those actions are never done. I think Gohda, Kyrie, and Rosa are huge victims of this.
Here is an example of what I mean:
You find a broken glass jar, and you see the person who did it, and based on his reactions you will set a very basic outline of what his personality might be.
If he begins apologizing, and tries to fix it, you might set up that he is a very well-to-do person.
However, if he runs, or he begins blaming other people, you might think he is a coward or selfish or afraid to take responsibility.
Now than, if you see the glass jar, but never even know this person was near it, you still have a wide range of personalities this person could be.
In this way, only a simple action can vastly reduce his personality scope, setting aside other variables.
Like I just said, I don't expect everything to be included, but I don't think rushing through a lot of the characterization is going to help. It is a mystery that is fun for people to try to solve, however, if you don't know people's personalities, than it becomes much harder to solve. When you discover a murder, for a momentary instant, everyone in the world is a suspect. You than use common sense to reduce this such as "A person who is currently hundred of kilometers away couldn't have killed this person", and then you reduce the scope even further by taking into account possible motives and personality.
I think a lot of the characterization could have been cured if they had just put the airplane scene in, really.
Also, I can't speak for others, but I might point out things that I think weren't done well, or scenes that I would want added, but that doesn't mean I hate the anime. It just means that I liked a specific scene and wanted to see it done well. Of course, I usually try to speak from a point of view of never having read the visual novel first, but sometimes if a scene I really liked is watered down, of course I would be disappointed.
If you're not allowed to point out things you think are done badly, then instead of out of 10, it would only be out of 2, 1 if you hate it and 2 if you like it.
