Originally a manga series, then turned into an anime my SynergySP (later Gainax IIRC).
It tells about a world where people with psychic abilities live amongst normal powerless ones, and an organization which aims to uphold the peace and order amongst espers and normals in Japan: BABEL.
The series focuses on a special team of espers — categorized as one of the most rare and most powerful espers around as Level 7 espers — who uphold the duties of BABEL: Kaoru Akashi, a Psychokinetic, Shiho Sannomiya, a Psychometrist, and Aoi Nogami, a Teleporter.
The anime series ended its year-long run on April 2009, which makes it quite a recent anime despite having a character design which is reminiscent of 90s anime. (Take note that the first season of Index ended its six-month run on March 2009 and Railgun started its half-year run on October of the same year.)
