Since I'm having leisure time, here's the original dialogues of what this scene supposed to be on the game

Again, that pattern you said are what usually happen on love sims genre. Unlike visual novel, love sims rarely have an unique or heavy plot but they mainly focus of the more free interaction player control between us player, or in the anime the MC, and the girl. On Photo Kano case, that would be to choose what topic to talk to before maxing affection to some point to access the next part of the girl's next main event, showing pictures you took, and asking the girl to go home together. But I do agree that in that regard, the anime failed to show those interactions due to 1 episode per girl limitation.

As for drama, on the game the choice of the club will determine the story version you'll get. Join Photo Club then you'll get Story L(ove) which its main event was more serious, drama-like while if you chose Photography Club you'll get Story H(appy) which has a love comedy approach and hardly any drama on its main events. The anime however took the liberty to mash-up the two stories, but since Kazuya joins Photography Club here the parts of story H version are more dominant, except maybe for Haruka and Hikari arc.

For comparison, here are some of the dramas on the game's story L have:

Haruka: It was on the anime where the girls were gosipping Kazuya and Haruka and then the soccer ace dude confessed to Haruka. On the game, during this happened and until you get to the part where Kazuya man up, Haruka will act awkwardly and distant, even the after-school date event during this time was they straightly go home. On the story H which the anime omit, only the gossip stuff happened and when Kazuya started to avoid Haruka, it was Haruka who force her way and made Kazuya realized he should be more confident when Haruka said she was happy after Kazuya started photography, they could talk often again like they used to be, and whenever Kazuya saw her from his camera's finder, she felt like Kazuya was looking out for her like the past.
Aki: It's basically the same when she was depressed and tired of all the pressure and burden to maintain her top student front and be a doctor. But unlike the story H and the anime where Kazuya immediately cheered her by asking to bail school, on the story L Kazuya couldn't do anything until player get to 2 next main events and ask her to saw the dolphin like her mother did. The anime didn't include the story H's date event where they went on a date to swimming pool instead.
Mai: Depressed by her failure on the preliminary result, and since Kazuya weren't there during her test, she was feeling down about her small figure and lack of beauty, making her skip all her club practices and even stop dieting until next event where Kazuya invited her to date on theme park and then making Mai realized she should be confident with her own beauty and cuteness.
Hikari: Pretty much the same like the anime, that's why I said Hikari arc are more focused on her story L version. The story H version were funnier in way how Kazuya makes Hikari taking a like to take people's picture. After Kazuya took many of her embarrassing pictures (an example is when she's eating burger and had ketchup on her cheek), Hikari started to take picture of herself, and then Kazuya's embarrassing pictures as her revenge. They then involved in taking-each-other-embarrassing-picture battle for awhile which making them closer.
Nonoka: Two times happened when Nonoka felt like a third-wheel when she called Kazuya from distance and turned out he was talking with Haruka, ran away and Kazuya had to chased after her and talk to her.
Rina: There's no big, teen drama like above but instead. It was only after their date to beach (which the anime omitted, and we couldn't see Rina in her swimsuit other than on the OP ) and saw Rina smiled a lot, one day Kazuya was about to go home and from the other side of the road Rina called him, waiting for traffic light to be green so she can cross. But then suddenly a truck came and crashed Rina's side of the road. Kazuya ran to Rina's side in panic, and turned out Rina was fine but she was trembling and can't stand up so then Kazuya hold her hand and hug her to calm Rina. Later that night Rina called Kazuya to tell her that she was already fine so he shouldn't be worry. And next day Kazuya woke up early because he wanted to see Rina as fast as possible, turned out Rina was waiting near his house because she wanted the same, to see him to showed Kazuya her smile again to show him that she was really fine.

There should be a drama for Tomoe route if it stays true to the game. But then again unlike the 6 previous girls who have 2 story variants depending which club MC chose, Tomoe only has 1 story, and the official site has its summary:
