IS Core: Missing Number <REDACTED> - "The Beast of Possibilities"
IS Fashion:
2nd Generation "
Oracle" - Ray's IS configuration when he operates under the auspices of Collared. A semi-monocoque design that eschews an IS's quintessential anti-gravity flight capabilities, and reduced output to its inertial dampeners in exchange for additional armor, improved vectronics, and strengthened muscle package made possible by freed up energy cap.
The extra armor is a matter of necessity as Missing Number IS Cores do not possess a native energy barrier system. Nevertheless, this fashion does feature a Dynamic Local Dissipative Shield system, reversed engineered from the Originals, which engages whenever the IS detects that it is about to come under fire. This "imitation" shield system, however, has its flaws and is still by far inferior to native IS energy shields. On the bright side, it is not draining power constantly, enabling Ray to operate for much longer in the field than compared to his colleagues.
Mobility issues are solved by way of a gliding wheel system, allowing Ray to cross and maneuver over most terrain at reasonable ground speeds. Auxiliary side boosters built-in to the shoulder pauldrons grant him considerable agility in rapid lateral movements, while the tuned-up dual-engine primary boosters in the backpack allow Oracle to achieve a respectable top speed, with an impressive acceleration to boot.
The armaments on-board the Oracle frame are typical of 2nd generation IS, in fact, consisting of a backpack-mounted five-tube vertical missile launcher and 88mm high-velocity cannon, a multi-purpose arm punch with knuckle shot duster on the left arm, and a hand-held 20mm railgun. Additionally, a pair of retractable 7.62mm CIWS, capable of independently tracking targets within a 30-degree arc, are mounted in the shoulders. The obvious intent by the choice in armament is to save energy and increase the fashion's operational endurance at the expense of increased operating costs and questionable Anti-IS combat potential.
3rd Generation "Dynames" - Ray's IS configuration while at the IS Academy in Japan. A movable frame design that continues in the Galactic Pretty Boy's characteristic combat style. Its reduced weight provides far greater speed and maneuverability than in the previous generation at the expense of defense, as armor is now only applied to critical areas that need protection.
This deficit in defense, however, is made up for by an innovative energy barrier system, called the Pinpoint Barrier System that defeats incoming threats precisely, rather than waste precious energy by enveloping the user completely from an otherwise "minuscule" attack. As an added bonus, the Pinpoint Barrier System can be used offensively as well, though its power output is still inferior compared to the native energy barrier system of an original IS.
Dynames offers a flavorful plethora of additional defensive options in the form of a comforting Full Armor Cloth, a stealthy ECS Cloak, a stylish ABO Cloak, reactive Jacket Armor during the summer, and a Full Shield Coat for a dance through steel rain. These add-on armor packages, namely the clothing derived ones, also offer an unexpected benefit of concealing Ray's movements and armaments, making him harder to "read" in an engagement.
Due to significant savings in energy cap, Dynames has been upgraded with triple-strength muscle packages, a superior vectronics package, and a new jet roller dash system and vectored thrusters for more deadly, high speed maneuvers. Ray's already surprising agility is further augmented by auxiliary thrusters built-in throughout the frame, enabling him to "Quick Boost" for a near instantaneous burst of speed. This fashion's only shortcoming is that Dynames still has a low aptitude in aerial combat, making Ray something of a lame duck that can't fly to save himself (by choice perhaps?).
Still conservative on weaponry, Dynames loadout relies on primarily on "solid" projectiles and "mundane" melee weapons. The only exception to the rule appears to be Ray's favoritism for the Tesla Licht Institute's over-the-top exotic energy weapons, which he has reserved some considerable space aboard Dynames' dress. A typical load for the Galactic Pretty Boy involves extra clothing of his choice, dual 20mm Giant Tonfa Revolvers with programmable "smart" rounds, head-mounted mini dual pulse lasers, knuckle dusters, two progressive daggers, a 12.7mm linear designated marksman rifle with progressive chain bayonet, and his "Trump Card" of choice.
Suffice to say, it appears Ray has decided to catch up with the times, and it is not looking pretty for anyone who decides to do the "Bullet Dance" tango with him. At range, he can dance a jig in his sleep, while up close and personal, his slim appearance is merely camouflage for the hidden strength within. And best of all, he's got a wonderful surprise for anyone who still dares to underestimate him, just because he's the Meister of an "Imaginary Number".
They wanted a demon? Well, they got one.
4th Generation "SEITEN no Dynames / Dynames SEITEN" - An aptly named mid-season upgrade, so to speak, for Dynames. Its new epithet translates roughly to, "Dynames of the Eight Heavenly Extremes".
9th Generation <REDACTED> - An unknown fashion yet to be discovered.
Personnel Dossier:
A quintessential example of what does not kill you, makes you stranger, Ray Rheinhart is that funky brand of Feng Shui medicine. At first glance, he possess the illusion of a cool, handsome bishounen, but appearances alack are only skin deep, much to the shock of many a would-be suitor after his genre savvy hide. Blessed with movie star looks, melodrama is a regular part of Ray's eclectic lifestyle that seems to entail him getting mixed up with all kinds of people, himself usually playing the role of a charismatic supporting character. Of course, the Galactic Pretty Boy conveniently ignores the fact that he can be pinpointed as the original source of conflict in the once mundane lives of his peers and co-workers.
To complicate things, he has a bad habit of nicknaming everyone he meets and happens to like in a most childish manner. Some personal favorites of his include: "Hey~, Boobie Lady!" when executing his daily greeting to Yamada Maya-sensei, before getting stonewalled by the Chifuyu Chop to the forehead (how amazing that he has not lost all of his brain cells yet from repeated dosages).
Oh yes, Mischief and trouble, by way of a string of unfortunate misunderstandings, are old friends of Ray. He means well, quite the upstanding egalitarian guy really, but the walking encyclopedia of Mankind's Culture has a mouth way too smart for his own good, and - oh - he is a
shameless flirt. Much of the time he gets rejected, true enough, but Fortune, so they say, favors the bold, and when Ray wins the lottery, there is a lot of guys who line up to beat the ever living snot out of him, plus his potential ex-girlfriends.
No matter how many times it happens, the Galactic Pretty Boy takes his licks, laughs it off, and picks up right where he last left off. This boldness of action, however, is not just reckless courage. Ray is a blooded combatant with a rock solid grounding in tactics, contrary to his awfully flashy fighting style, and enviably extensive proficiency in various martial disciplines. The latter feat should be impossible as most humans would need to train for most of their natural lifespan to achieve, but Ray Rheinhart is a LYNX.
Though self-evidently proud of who he is, the transhuman does not make a habit of advertising his "inhumanity". As much as it pains him to hide the truth, Ray is wise beyond his years, and knows better than some people are just not ready to accept his kind, much less the circumstances that transformed him into one. Why, if he had not undergone the procedure, he would not be alive to angst about the lynch mob coming down to hang him in the first place! Becoming a superior human did not make him happier, he owed even more misery and baggage to deal with now than when he was a regular joe schmoe.
Hah. How ironic that despite his superiority, Ray Rheinhart was as troubled and messed up as everyone else around him, whose lives he tried to brighten just a little bit in his own way. Then again, the Galactic Pretty Boy deserved it, no? He was a paid mass murderer, officially joining the ranks of other "despicable" male IS pilots coming into the light for the first time now that the wholly innocuous Orimura Ichika had debuted on the world's stage.
It would not be right, if he did not have to suffer for his crimes, no?
