This is the clearest connection shown yet between Nayuki's narcolepsy and her situation with Yuuichi - almost a one-to-one between Yuuichi neglecting her and her tendency to fall asleep. Concerning the 2k2 Nayuki... I wonder if we'll see that more desperate Nayuki rise up as the Mai arc peaks since it presents the most obvious danger to her fantasy wish. Up to now she really hasn't been aware that Mai is even in the picture. Makoto was disturbing but handled partially because her mother was there. Ayu is a bit of an enigma but possibly seen as more of a little sister than a competitor to her. But Mai can't be ignored....

This isn't narcolepsy if she rebounds just by Yuichi acknowledging her, blah, blah ,blah. She's been getting worse since Ayu's date and really reached new heights after the ball. It's a mood disorder imo.
Ayu's been on a date with that guy and has went out with him to that school at night. He also buys her taiyuki at every opportunity. Little sister designation doesn't apply anymore. There's also the fact that he berates Nayuki to her face something that Ayu doesn't get. If anything this points to Nayuki being treated as "sister" and Ayu as "girlfriend".
If she's still thinking that Yuichi thinks of Ayu as a "sister", it's a sad defense mechanism because she can't cope with reality imo.

I really don't think that it was a romantic confession either, especially with Sayuri's name being mentioned in the same sentence. More like "I love you as a friend and care about what happens to you despite you acting like this." sort of a deal imo.

Totally doubt that Mai is confessing to Yuichi since she hasn't had much time with him. I'm betting it's Sayuri but it's not romantic either imo.
