You don't use normal milk, it is always powdered milk
used with sugar, margarine/butter, boiling water and vanilla essence
Stir and let it cool in the fridge

I've never heard of anyone using normal milk before >: normal milks makes it a lot harder that is old school method and not easy
edit: just to clear up why they use powdered
The way you did it was to make icecream, well sort of and that is why they use powdered milk, boiling water does not crystallize
