I agree. Even though there was more to that attack than just raw brute strength, I don't think it was a good move for Kubo to have Isshin connect with an attack like that given how the rest of the battle appeared to be an even match-up for what little we saw of it. It sent such a mixed message.
IMO, if you're gonna have one guy start a fight by pwning the other guy with a finger flick, the guy doing the finger flicking should clearly be shown dominating from start to finish. But that's just me.
