Well, that's.... interesting?
I doubt that HnG could ever go in that direction. To be so Hina centered, or whatnot, and 'sides that, Hina doesn't seem as such a weak character for that even to happen.
Why would she leave everyone for her parents without them first explaining anything? Hina is one of the lifelines of HnG. Certainly a Hina centered arc could bring more popularity to it, but Hata did say that he hates overly dramatic things, though he did do that whole Athena thing.
Eh, it's all just so random...
There are far better choices she could have chosen instead of just leaping with her parents. And if Yukiji knew about the truth of why they were abandoned, she could have easily told her instead of letting her leave with such horrible parents, or whatnot. I'm assuming that the truth is bad here, and that her parents are lower than dog shit, but Hina doesn't remember them as such, and nor does Yukiji. Though I'll admit, Yukiji could be lying about it, and Hina's memories could be a tad jumbled up, but that would be... far fetched...
Well, whatever. We could debate more on this when the time comes.
By the way, the raws of 287 are out on LLHayate's blog. Just Google that to find them.

Meh, I didn't know that Hata didn't like overly dramatic stuff aside from the Athena's arc. I thought that Hina's birthday arc was also a bit dramatic, but that's just me.
I know that Hina isn't such a weak character, but from what we've seen from Hina's birthday arc, it is not to say that she isn't breakable. She is also weak when it comes to height, so maybe she might have a soft spot for her parents also.
Spoiler for also:
Perhaps Hina's parents might have sugar-coated and sweet-talked Hina to return. Hina did loved her parents. Perhaps in order to convinced Hina to return, the parents made an offer that Hina couldn't refuse which would include forcing Hina to leave her friends and city behind (sort of like Inoue when she got kidnapped in Bleach, and no she wouldn't get kidnapped like Inoue). I am still thinking this part out
Of course this wouldn't happen right now, but more of somewhere in the future, like 2 years from now, when everyone has had their own arc, and the is already a prior set-up, plot triggers, or hints to leading to this story.
Older people tend to not tell a child the truth in trying to not have them feel more hurt than they already are unless they get older and are asked. Yukiji could be that type of person and was never asked. Kinda like in Last Exile with Claus and Alex, or dig up history like in Clannad but with a dark history. Yukiji would be like protecting Hina from the horrible truth. I am also thinking of having Yukiji unaware of her parents paying a visit, and Hina leaving.
Spoiler for Ideas:
Ehh. This makes me wanna write up like a 5-10+ chapter fanfiction with this. i could already see what each chapters would be about, and how i want each chapter to end:
ch 1: Everyday thing. Hina meets two individuals/strangers and have coffee or lunch together. Ends with Hina's parents being revealed (like in Star Wars; Hina...We are your parents).
ch 2: Conversations and questions ensue. Ends with Hina receiving the option to stay or leave without revealing the stipulation (which somehow will make Hina to leave, that i am still debating on)
ch 3: Hina's friends find a note.Everyone but Yukiji receives word (without revealing anything to the reader) and searches frantically. Ends with friends meet Hina right before she leaves, and Hina reveals that yes she is leaving (with her parents).
ch 4: Hina's flashbacks and regrets and stipulations revealed
ch 5: Hayate and friends scenes, chats, talking about Hina
ch 6: Hina's first day back with family, and her adjusting to her new life and parents.
ch 7: Hina still adjusting. Ends with Hina finding something (a book or diary maybe) which contains the real truth (but nothing revealing to the reader).
ch 8: Confrontation of parent and Hina (truth still won't be revealed to readers yet until a later chapter, but enough to piss the crap out of Hina). Ends in Hina running away
ch 9: Back to Hayate and company. Ends with Hayate receiving a phone call from Yukiji asking Hayate to come to her step-parent's house.
ch10: Short conversation of Hayate with Yukiji (Hayate only asking what's wrong and Yukiji only telling him to come over and nothing more, not even mentioning Hina). Hayate arrives, and gets a brief with Yukiji and the Katsuras. Ends in Hayate seeing a Nayuki'd Hina.
The rest: To Be Continued as I already typed too much. I plan to throw in some Kanon references (that red gem, or Mrs. Katsura asking if anyone wanna try out her special jam, etc just out of nowhere) just for some laughs. And Hina does not get any extra advances on Hayate here.
edit: I still don't see Hata ending the manga without introducing Hina's parents in more depth, neither without a follow-up or touch-up of Hayate's parents.
edit 2: If I remember correctly, and if I am not wrong here, I remember Hata saying something about how he had the idea of his manga to be originally centered around Hina. Don't know if that was true, and don't remember where I got the info/idea from also.
