I think Natsume is one of the most humanistic anime out there and while it does have a strong supernatural elements, it also definitely does deal with humanity.
Of course with my icon, obviously I am biased.

After seeing all the Natsume series I don't think I could claim not being biased either
. I always thought the series was a great emotional ride every episode. Felt the character development for Natsume was really quite deep and took a slow route that things often require when people are really changing and dealing with their past.
But hey, everyone sees things differently. There are some series people will rave about that I'll never really get into
