He thought his friend from elementary - forgot his name - was the extra because he doesn't remember stuff from when they were kids... But that could just as easily mean Teshi's the dead one. His friend doesn't remember it because the stuff Teshi remembers never happened. And maybe the friend realized this upon being confronted, triggering the fight.
