Fun fact:
In 1845, the island of Ireland had a higher population then Brazil, Mexico, Egypt, Iran, Vietnam, Thailand and Portugal. It's also possible that Ireland had a higher population then all of Spanish speaking South America, though I'm not as sure on that one. Today Ireland had about 6 million people, while many of those countries are around 100 million.
