That's kind of standard for fiction, isn't it? If you make a drawing of a drawing it has to look less realistic than the "normal" drawing, and likewise a movie of a movie or an actor pretending to be acting. If you don't do it like that then it interferes a bit with suspension of disbelief, or something along those lines. You have to be able to believe that the world they're showing you is more "real" than the fiction inside it.
