Kristian, meaning (if I'm correctly informed) simply 'christian', which couldn't have hit much further from the mark as I can't stand religion. I've actually come to appreciate Buddhism and Shintoism after coming to Japan, but Christianity is just too 'in your face' and condemning for me to bear.

In Japanese it's a little difficult because the kanji doesn't really make sense. It's composed of the "ri", which means "reason". The second kanji is "sa", which is "sand". So... "reasonable sand"? I'd type out the kanji, but I can't figure out how to get my Japaneseyness to show up. ><
