^Pretty good summary of the differences between LoL and Dota 2. One more point I'd add to that is the differing financial models in the respective competitive scenes. The LoL competitive scene largely receives centralised funding from Riot, which pays out all $5 million of the prize money each season. This makes it easier for teams around the world to make a living playing LoL if they are sufficiently skilled.

Dota 2, on the other hand, has decentralised funding in its competitive scene. Other than annual The International competitions, all other tournaments are privately funded. Because of this, there are very few fully-professional Dota 2 teams outside of China since no other region has a market large enough with sufficient market penetration to support professional teams.
