Well, if it were effective to do a transplant, he probably would have done it a long time ago when he was kidnapping people for experiments in Konoha. Instead he found a way to gain the sharingan body, and still effectively wield it, as well as evade death. It's unknown how well Kakashi can wield it compared to an Uchiha, but it was stated it wasn't as effective for him (and there is the fact he cant turn it off).
