The NEX cameras are fine, but if you want to make comparisons you should also take a look at Olympus and Panasonic cameras (called the µ4/3 system - that's "micro four thirds"). I'll admit that I have a µ4/3 camera, but I honestly don't feel that either system is far superior than the other. Although µ4/3 currently has a lot more lenses, and seems to add new lenses more quickly...
If you want buying advice, give us some more information. What are you currently shooting with? How is it limiting you? What type of photography do you want to do, and why can't you do it with your current equipment? What's your budget?
