A giant object from outer space has been detected on route to the planet and calculations predicted that will crash on the city; citizens were relocated to the underground.
During a night of several tearjerking moments were all the main cast characters spend it like if were just another moment in their lives.
The next day a shuttle has been prepared for Solty to aboard; she volunteer to take down the supposed meteorite in route of collision.
There's a powerful scene between Roy in tears acknowledging and admiting Solty to be his little daughter. Both hugged each other, and Solty promises to return home once she's done.
Solty leaves in the shuttle which safely takes off and manages to enter space orbit, only to be shot down by what looks to be the defenses of an old colonizing ship.
The final boss is revealed as IRENE. The third AI sentience along with Dyke (Solty) and EUNOMIA who was aboard the same colonizing ship 200 years ago.
She took control of the OS systems of the ship and directed it on crash course to the planet; explains Rally's rush on building the space station to escape the planet in it.
EUNOMIA was alerted from picking IRENE's signal from far away and alerted Dyke who escaped from RUC, as she was seen in the first episode.
Both Solty and IRENE engaged in a philosophical argument of existentialism while their fight raged on. Solty's dexterity managed to maneuver unscathed and pass through the ship defenses, allowing her to punch her way into the ship to finally reach the chamber room where IRENE's core is located.
She glowed a golden aura preparing for her ultimate sonic fist to strike at the core. Just seconds before the ship exploded, Solty recalls the face of her dear people and the last she saw was of Roy smiling to her.
Explosion was that one of a nuclear scale.
5 years later......
The city improved very much and living standards with it, including medical care.
Roy and Rose, who she's now in her early 20's and cut her hair short, are serenely chatting in the park just like a father to her grown up daughter.
Along came Miranda and Kasha, who has grown into a teenager. Both Miranda and Roy haven't changed at all.
All three women are concerned and having regrets of never seeing Solty again as recalling the day she left, however, Roy surprises them all smiling and tells them all with a face full of optimism that someday Solty will return.
Ending credits started to roll and switches to another scene.
Many years pass.....
Likely there were about ten years.
In space two figures in space suits are checking up the garbage left from the ship's remnants as if were looking for something in particular.
The two people are Yuuto (in his late 30's) and Roy (in his late 50's). Suddenly, Yuuto hears a sound which is identified as a song being hummed by someone and tells to Roy.
Roy can hear it to, and knows it is
"Return to Love", the same song that his wife sang to Rose (Rita) as a baby. He follows the noise and quickly spots a golden light. Approaching close enough to the source of the light, she finds Solty stranded immobile, drifting in the space orbit.
Her right fist has been glowing all of this years in hopes that the light will lead Roy to hear, as she was humming the song day after day.
Both her left eye and left arm are gone, however, the rest of her body remains unscathed and undamaged.
Roy gets to her and bursting in tears, he hugs her. As by instinct, Solty's remaining eye reacts to life again meaning that Solty has recovered her consciousness and speaks to Roy.
Solty: Roy-san...
Roy: Welcome home.
At last, father and daughter are reunited fulfilling their promise in the vast confines of space.
THE END.
