I personally compare the Kirino/Kuroneko situation to Haruhi/Yuki. The leads of both series have reasonable fanbases but due to their sometimes violent sides, they tend to gather a fair amount of resentment and thus aren't the most popular. Whereas the soft spoken, restrained side character that still has a fairly important role has garnered more support in their respective series because they aren't ticking people off as much.

I'm finding the ISML forums and (fantasy) voting page are both causing me delay lately...Not sure why, because on any other site, it's working just fine with very little delay.

And in anticipation of what is to come, spontaneous story:

Aboard the ISML Starship - Tiara Winners Lounge

Mio: I don't know if I'm prepared...
Fate: You never are. You just take it as it comes.
Hinagiku: And dispose of anything in your way with your weapon of choice.
Mio: *blushes* But I don't like hurting people...
Hinagiku: *facepalm* Just how did you end up with the tiara, again?
Fate: Each to their own. Mio may seem shy, but when push comes to shove, she is able to perform to the best of her abilities when the situation requires it.
Hinagiku: That is rather clinical, Fate. Cut down on the green tea.
Fate: *gently sips* It beats cake.
Mio: Hey...don't diss cake...
Hinagiku: Speaking of cake...just how do you maintain that figure with how much cake you eat, Mio?
Mio: Ummm....
Fate: Actually, I'm curious about that one myself. How is that?
Mio: It's a secret...
Hinagiku: *reaches for her kendo stick* Right...
Fate: Settle down, Hinagiku. Mio is a permanent privileged guest here. We've got more important things to worry about than cake-to-fat conversion ratios.
Hinagiku: Don't remind me...I've already got calamari on the brain thanks to Squid Girl...why did I have to draw her...and just how did you draw such an easy group, Mio?!
Mio: Wha...I don't have it that easy! That Merry girl is a serious threat, you know. I have my work cut out as it is.
Fate: *sighs* Must be nice to only have one competitor to mainly worry about. And here I am with Kirino, Kyou and the Madoka girls all in my group...
Hinagiku: Yike, sorry I spoke so soon. Good luck with that mess of a group.
Fate: There's always the extra quailifiers. I can still make it yet.
Mio: Do, because ISML Tea Time just wouldn't be the same if you didn't make it to the regular season. I'd feel real guilty for having it easy compared to you, Fate.
Fate: Such is life. I still have Nanoha and my tiara to comfort me. *smiles*
Hinagiku: Oh great, just got a message that Nagi has landed Hayate in trouble again. I'm out of here. Sorry the meet-up was so short.
Mio: And judging by the scream coming from the West Wing, Ritsu is feeling someone up again...I'll have to settle that. *sulks* And I thought I was her favourite...
Fate: It was good catching up again. Be safe and try to have fun. And try to watch out for Triple K.
Mio: Er...what's Triple K?
Fate: *eyes narrow* You'll know...soon enough...
