Theres a difference between his opinions on the story and what he states is in the story. When the staff (CG is a joint work, after all) makes a statement about what is in the story, its in the story. Their opinions on it is an entirely different thing, and I don't think people are as greatly concerned with his opinion as they are with what he says is in the story.
