That is a good question. They obviously knew Kushina well so perhaps they thought he was dead, or perhaps they simply lost touch with the Hidden Rain.
Kishimoto would not bring up Naruto's parentage like this unless it was relevant to the current arc so I think we will find the answers to all of these questions soon.
