We've never really seen any indication of whether they're more hardworking/intelligent/adaptable than any of the other ninja clans. I mean, if we take Sasuke as an example, he's a good genin but I would hardly say he's any more hardworking/intelligent/adaptable than the average nin. The only thing that really stands out about him is his desire to prove himself, but then even that pales to the truly hardcore, like Neji, Rock and Naruto.
