I was proven wrong, but I have no complaints whatsoever about being done so.

Now all that's left is for a rehash of the "Cast Crushing Strike" coinciding with him recovering his ki.

Though... that would mean that Shiion has approximately one day to regain his ki, because his Wolverine Healing Factor automatically means he needs no cast the next day. That would need a major plot twist factor quickly.
