i think what rurik is trying to say is that yes kakashi is smart and skilled, However Shikamaru can think 200 moves in advance, thats why he's so good at shogi and go, he thinks so far ahead and can change the nature of those ideas in an instant i dont think kakashi can do that. he might be able to think 10 or so moves ahead but then again so can any decent chess player.
