When they say characters OUT OF BATTLE can join in on conversations...that kinda puzzles me. I hope it isn't the typical RPG magic where they're actually with you but you don't see them. I mean I think that's okay in Turn-Based RPGs but when it comes to action RPGs...and if they're conversing with you...it kinda kicks your right out of the immersion.
I hope they explain that with bluetooth headsets for their advanced fantasy mobile phones, which I'm sure they have in this specific setting of FF.
