I.... don't think so. Gold Lion Shiki (the"flying pirate" in question) is going to appear in movie 10, and so far Iwe haven't seen any connection between him and Lafitte.....
Speaking of Lafitte, I remind everyone again that Blackbeard recruiting Shiryuu isn't out of the question. After all, Lafitte himself was a lawman who was banished from his homeland in West Blue because he was excessively violent, much like our friend Shiryuu here. It'll definitely be interesting to see the meeting between Teach and the head jailor (I wonder if it will happen
before or
after he encounters Luffy's group?)......
