It's not about the money. When his own parents threw him to the wolves, she saved his life, gave him a job, a roof, and a purpose. Unlike his parents who never lifted a finger to help him, she always does her best to take care of him. (Even if her best is bloody clumsy and has a tendency to backfire.)
Even if he doesn't fall in love with her, he'll be forever grateful.
