Is this the same person? because as Eiji Yoshikawa's Taiko goes.... Yamanaka Shikanosuke were abandoned by the decree of Nobunaga during the besiege, then... he was assassinated by the order of Kikkawa Motoharu when he make a pretense of surrendering.
Yup, it's the same person... 8 hardships and 7 misfortune seems to be a direct translation of the chinese idiom 七难八苦, which is exactly what the chinese translation said...
