I don't think that the price point for the actual machine will be as big of a deal as the price point for games. Even if the DS is $50-100 cheeper than PSP, and PSP's games are even $10 cheaper, people who buy more games will save more in the long run.
It's just the personal prefrences of people, and the age group.
