One Piece isn't really popular in North America primarily because of how 4Kids handled it prior to Funimation taking over. It was originally a terrible, censored mess, with atrocious voice acting, that really turned people away from it. Now, it's a really good dub. And the manga volumes are being released shortly after their japanese counterparts. It's unfortunate, because One Piece is a very well-written story. It's easily surpassed Dragon Ball for me.
