In all honesty, it was mainly Kou's antics that made me keep going on Oinari, and even then right now is on hiatus because of lack of interest due to it not really having an overarching plot. Which isn't bad in of itself, but personally, I stay away from those kind of things since I quickly lose interest.

Kannagi on the other hand, from what little I've seen of the manga, has some purpose in the plot to keep it going. I wish I can read more of it, but alas, scans has stopped and the anime is now on (don't want to spoil myself of future events now lol).

AFAIK too, it wasn't in the manga.

Spoiler for early manga I think:

One of the reasons why I ship Tsugumi and not Nagi (despite the protagonist knowing both of them in childhood) is that concerning Nagi and Jin, there isn't a slightest bit of 'interest' from both sides of what little I've seen the manga. Nagi clearly states and shows she isn't interested, all the while teasing and giving small pushes to Tsugumi about her crush. He on the other hand is just ambivalent to almost whatever Nagi does (or anyone for that matter).

So yeah, very disappointed in this development, as it sets the ground for Nagi being Jin's LI when it isn't the case in the manga. Sigh... ignorance really is bliss; I wish I hadn't been curious and read the manga lol
