Hi folks, wanted to throw some thoughts out here--sort of thinking out loud, so to speak. Ever since I started reading the LNs I've been consumed by a growing urge to fic something in this world--the time skips and thousands of unknown characters pretty much beg for it.
So I started thinking about what--besides my enjoyment of the characters and their relationships--really makes SAO stories compelling to me. And finally, I think I've put my finger on it: the most interesting twists are the ones that revolve around the game mechanics and how people use them in unexpected ways.
Those of you who've read the LNs will particularly know what I'm talking about.
I've got a ficsnip brewing at the moment that isn't quite ready to post, but I was wondering if anyone else had had thoughts along these lines.
