Hayate's main problem isn't the fact she's bad at close combat, it's the fact her spellstake forrever to be casted, with the Penta-core processor that will be solved and with free access to all spells she coul have defenses as strong as Signum's, dinamic as Zafira's and Variable as Shamal's
Also, if they're working all into one it won't be strange for the Knights giving Hayate a share of their abilities in combat or at the very least keen instincts and perception to catch up with close combat fighters.
