Click on the right pink bubble in the lower middle to open up the character list window. It shows the main chars in normal (left/on top) and Kämpfer (right/below) looks.

Oh cool totally missed that. Thanks! Yup, His hair turns darker when he's a guy. That shade of blue doesn't quite match a guy right.
That short hair girl is a kampfer also... seems also to be an aggressive transformation.
